For the 8th year, Saddle River will host the Susan Zabransky Hughes Memorial 5k Run/Walk on April 27th 2019.
The Susan Zabransky Hughes Memorial Run was held in memory of the Saddle River resident who lost her battle with cervical cancer in July 2011 at the age of 46.
The run raises money for the Susan Zabransky Hughes Memorial Scholarship at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University. Funding will also continue for two weeks of camp at Pony Power Therapies in Mahwah for pediatric patients treated at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center.
Since it began in 2012, the Susan Zabransky Hughes Memorial Run has raised more than $2 million. Past gifts and donations resulted in the completion ofSusan’s Suite, a ten-bed unit for patients with cancer and diseases of the immune system requiring specialized and individualized treatment, in the Emergency and Trauma Center at Hackensack University Medical Center. Proceeds have also helped to fund an oncology patient navigator position at the medical center.
