New Candidates Win Town Council Primary for Saddle River

After a hard-fought battle with a record votor turnout in Saddle River, John DeRosa and Rosario Ruffino win the Republican primary for Town Council seats on the Saddle River Town Council.

Saddle River only has Republican candidates so DeRosa and Ruffino are headed to the Town Council after the new year starts. Starting in 2019 both career finance executives John DeRosa and Rosario Ruffino will represent the people of Saddle River on the borough council.

Incumbent Liz Salazer loses her seat and as well as her running mate – the relative newcomer – Nick Ponzini. Here is the final tally:

Saddle River Council:
Rosario Ruffino – 505
John DeRosa – 491
Liz Salazer – 463
Nick Ponzini – 436
This was a record turnout for the town in term of voters and Rosario Ruffino received the most votes ever in a town council election.
The main platform the winning candidates ran on were: solving the on-going deer problem in town; the upcoming contracts with the town’s recycling vendor and stagnant property values in town.
