The Mayor and Council Takes Action to Improve the Town

In a bid to make the town a more attractive place to live for new homeowners, Mayor Al Kurpis and the Council has been active in creating or adopting new ordinances that address specific issues.

Changes that has been adopted include:

  • Increasing the amount of total improved lot coverages from 20% to 21%
  • Permitting residents to remove/replace plants and shrubs from their Non-Disturbance Areas
  • Removal of a loophole that allowed for the discharge of a firearm to hunt “vermin”
  • Permitting the installation of deer fencing up to 8.5 feet in height so residents can better protect their properties from deer consumption
  • Two ordinances related to garages that allow lifts and removes the previous 275 sq ft restriction on the area of the garage bay
  • Permitting Realtors to host open houses on Sundays from 12 pm to 4 pm
  • A new ‘property maintenance’ ordinance that regulates that care and maintenance of properties in foreclosure
